Payphones are disappearing though, how do you propose using a calling
card when you can't find a phone?
Don't they have phones at places like central post offices anymore?
or maybe train stations?
(ask about it at the tourist office -- surely they haven't disappeared too!)
I remember making a few calls from such places, but it's been eons since I
went to Europe. No, it's not *convenient* but if you're only making a call
or two along the way it'll do. Anyway, we *used* to manage!
(we also did things like send postcards, & got mail at Poste Restante --
does that still exist?)
I guess it depends on "how important is it to make the call?"
