I know there is a 30 day trail period. If the person is not satisfied
for any reason they can return the phone and as long as it's returned
before the 30 days, there is no obligation to Verizon. My friend
returned the Blackberry Storm about a week afterwards. Verizon hit her
with charges. I don't know what charges she's referring to.
I do know that she has a Treo 700wx. The Treo was still under contract
until the 30th of April. They disconnected that phone and they signed
her up again with a new contract for the Blackberry. Since she returned
the Blackberry they did connect her Treo again. I'm wondering if that
has anything to do with the charges they billed her for.

It's my understanding that the 30 day trial period means you can sign up for
service, take the phone and plan that you select for the price they
advertise and if suring the first 30 days you are not happy you can return
the phone, cancel the 2 year agreement, and pay only for the charges you
accumulated. Say the plan you selected is the minimum price plan of about
$40 per month for calls. If you cancel in time you are liable for up to $40
monthly charge, plus taxes and fees.
Are you or your friend expecting to cancel within 30 days and not pay for
the actual usage? That's not a possibility. BTW, it's best to clear all of
this up before you or a friend initiates a contract not afterwards, just in
case.
