Has your VZW PRL been updated??

I was in my local WalMart Superstore in the Oakbrook section of
Summerville, SC, today for supplies. Standing in line at the checkout,
where there are 48 cash registers, 16 self-checkout stations that never
work and 6 actual cashiers at the head of long lines, there was a lady a
couple of people ahead of me trying to call someone unsuccessfully as her
phone wouldn't make the call. (Verizon has never had a good signal in this
area of the city...no towers...and had deleted both the Sprint system 1/4
mile from WalMart you can see from the parking lot and the Alltel tower 1/2
mile the other way from their PRL to prevent inmarket roaming to a system
that worked many years ago.)
Seeing her plight, I offered to let her use my Alltel phone with full bars
to make her call. We traded phones and she called home. After the call I
was about to hand the phone back to her when I asked her how long has it
been since she upgraded the *228 call on her calling list (PRL just
confuses them.) "I've never done that.", she says. She agrees to let me
do it after we get past the checkout....
Her phone locked to Verizon as we left the building into the parking lot,
so we stopped and I called 228 and did a PRL upgrade successfully.
I asked her to try the phone inside again to see if anything had changed.
She went back inside while I guarded our shopping carts, emerging soon
after. When she went back inside, the phone ROAMED onto the Alltel system!
Now she has Verizon service inside my infamous Walmart. Something has
changed. I got my Alltel to roam onto VZW after a PRL update to Alltel
30035 this past week, too. It seems the lockout between the companies has
been eliminated, at least here around Charleston, SC.
Anybody else tried this in an area with Alltel around?
This will certainly improve coverage for both systems, here.
