Not a very useful or helpful answer, in fact not an answer at all....
This sounds like a temporary failure on the part of the mailserver.
Perhaps just retrying the next day will help. It may also be that
you've exceeded some (invisible?) allowance of text messages?
I use this technique myself, it works just fine and is in fact quite
simple. As simple as an iPhone, BTW.
