Depends which part of California. In greater Los Angeles, although their
footprint is not as large as Verizon's, the call quality is very good.

I don't live in Southern California, but my nephew does, and he's had terrible coverage in the parts of the L.A. area where he lives and works. In Orange County, Verizon is much better than Sprint.
