Re: Do new phones allow internet by laptop?

I am totally new to all of this but stumbled upon this forum and had to join.
It sounds like you're saying that I can have Mobile Web activated via Verizon,
and then connect my Macintosh Laptop (for mobile internet access) using
bluetooth on both phone and laptop, and the username, passwords, etc. below?
Before I found this forum, I tried to do it manually with my computer, and
called Verizon for info needed in the process and I got a funny feeling they
weren't telling me something when I asked for CID string info (I have no idea
what that is, but my computer asked for it).

I have an LG phone, so I guess I would I need different info. You said Nokia
specific so I wonder how I could try and make this work on an LG VX8100 phone
with my Mac Bluetooth.

Maybe this is all just beyond me . . .
any insight you have would be appreciated.

out how to use Bluetooth for dialup networking (DUN), if it is capable
of that.

ExpressNetwork access is "supposed" to be done via a Mobile Office Kit
purchased from Verizon (along with a data plan), and it appears to be
available for many of their phones.

I can, however, take advantage of my ExpressNetwork National Access
(Mobile Web, etc.), and use a Nokia-specific init string to connect
(with the <#>@vz3gw.com/vzw Id/Pw) to the 1xRTT network for 60-80 Kbps
speeds (see the thread, " Do any of the new phones have data
connectivity (not data plan)" ) without said data plan. I can connect
via USB cable from my laptop (Windows was trickier than Linux ;-), and
infrared with my Palm Zire 72.

Since my employer is paying for a Sprint EVDO Aircard subscription (none
of the limitations on the "unlimited" EVDO that Verizon has so far as I
can tell), I only use that ExpressNetwork access on Verizon as a fallback.
