Re: Is CDMA 1x a 14.4 kbps or ~144 kbps

I think I see what is going on. It appears that my Motorola V265 seems to
only respond to a baud of 19200. Whenever I increase (or decrease) the baud
from 19200 the phone does not respond.

To test this I just used Hyper Terminal. If I sent "atdt" at 19200 I could
see activity on the phone. Although the command had the phone show "Calling
111" and ending seconds later, there was activity. Even just trying an "at"
command at other baud rates did nothing.

I guess I need to see if I can find something that shows how to configure
changing the baud rate on my phone's connection.

I have a Motorola V265 and connect to Verizon over my laptop with the
teathering cable. The connection speed shows as 19.2 kbps however speed
tests show it as 14.4 bps. I keep seeing online that the express network
is
supposed to burts up to 144 kbps and cruz between 60-80. Of course since
I
am only connecting at 14.4 speeds I will never see that.

The 19.2 kbps is the maximum port speed for your "modem". You set it in
the modem properties (Control Panel). You should set it as high as the
interface allows. It is one of the limiting factors in the speed of
your connection.

When connecting I dial #777 and use mynumber@xxxxxxxxx for my user name
and
vzw for a password as instructed but Tech Support. Am I supposed to be
dialing some other number or using some other user/password combo to get
online at the faster advertized speeds?

No, you are doing it correctly. I have never found any benefit to adding
initialization strings when connecting using Verizon Wireless.
