me. We recently moved to an "extended" network area for Verizon. Our signals have ranged from full Digital to full 1X since we moved
here in November. We can live with that for a while as we read in
the local newspaper that Verizon was building towers about 10 miles
away. I recently upgraded my phone to the Motorola E815 and my
husbands phone is still the Audiovox 6410, I think. Anyway,
yesterday we were running errands in a Verizon area and I always do
a *228 to upgrade software, etc. I did it on the E815 and not the
Audiovox as we didn't have it with us. Today, I have virtually no service on the E815, it cycles thru a no
signal 1x to no service to no signal digital. Can't call out and
can't receive calls. I called technical support and they tell me
that, because we are not in their service area they can't help me.
The supervisor also contradicted what the newspaper and what another
technician said about Verizon being built here. Even told me how to
cancel my contract without penalty. I told them it was their software upgrade at the *228 that screwed
up my phone and asked how I could return to the previous version and
they just said I was out of luck. I really don't want to switch
service because we travel a lot in the winter and our adult children
have Verizon service. We are in the Roseburg, Oregon area and I
don't think there are any other national plans locally; even
Cingular partners with the locals here. Any advice??
Thanks in advance.
I know I am going to to sound like a broken record but after the *228 you might have to power ycle your phone to get it to 'take'. If that doesn't do it, try the *228 and power cycle once more.
One other thing to try is to *228 from a different area. It's a pain in the butt, I know but it beats a trip to the store.
