Re: (Still Waiting) I'm a Skyper

I am a new user of Skype. I love it. I called my nephew in Canada last
weekend on his home phone for free. The sound quality was very good. I was
impressed! Calls to landline in US and Canada are free until Dec. 31, 2006.

When my laptop is with me, I use Skype to call out instead of my Cell phone.

By the way, I ported my number to Sprint (from Verizon), and I signed up for
200 minutes for only $29.99. I use my Sprint phone just in case I'm away
from my laptop, when I really need to make a phone call.

I don't own a cell phone. For years I've been saying that I would wait
for the service to improve - it hansn't.

I met a new friend on the West coast of France, on the phone, today, Joe.
Had a great conversation with him. He's from the English part of Canada
and his wife's from there. Worked great for over an hour!

Oh, wait, that wasn't on cellular....That was on Skype....

We talked for free. 60 minutes of Verizon would have been:
60 X $US1.49 = $US$89.40 plus "fees", addons and taxes, probably over a
hundred bucks....which would have taken a LOT of the fun out of it...

At 4:30, my time, his wife came into the room to tell us he needed to get
to bed. Too bad he doesn't have a camera. I'd like to see Strasbourg.

While we were chatting, I told him about Network Stumbler
(www.stumbler.net) to help him look for more wifi links. As soon as he
booted it he found 15 in the house! Cool...(c;

You are right about cellular service....But, alas, there are others up and
coming. I see you're also on Usenetserver, so I can't tell what kind of
internet you got. Got Skype, yet? Great fun and mostly free!

all you need is a mic for your computer....
