Re: Verizon Breaks with Industry, and to begins Pro-rating Termination Fee

They declare yet another benefit offered for their valued
customers. How cynical is that?

Uhhh, what would you have them do?

Verizon took the same preemptive move with handsfree
requirements. Instead of losing all ability for a driver
to talk while using a cell phone, VZW broke ranks with
the other (very surprised) cellular carriers and got
behind handsfree equipment (which everyone knows does
little or nothing to keep a drivers attention on the
road).
The web site which studied wireless drivers behavior got
turned into, IIRC, some kind of porn site, within months
of the wireless industries backing of handsfree devices!
Kinda seems like someone took an active hand in erasing
all traces of that endeavor to save lives?

.... the guys in the black helicopters?

I'm just waiting for verizon to stop charging me 38 cents
a minute, if I go over my minutes. There is no
justification for charging exorbitant rates in the modern
telecom world, other than "that's how we always did it".

They only charge me 25 cents if I go over.
There is justification. It's an effective way to predict
resource needs and plan for them. Of course Cingular
had that nasty episode where they knew they didn't
have the network capacity to handle the number of users...

I also realize those are the rules for going over, unfair
and arbitrary rules IMO. CS would not budge, that's OK,
nothing personal.

No, not arbitrary or personal. It's a contract that you willingly
entered and so not personal either, but that's OK.

One can still protest an unfair business practice, that
from past track record, is only going to get changed,
when VZW sees a chance to make a good business
and PR move.

Is it an unfair business practice when you agree to it
in a contract?

To be fair,

This is in opposition to your thoughts above?

VZW sent a me a $40 loyalty check to be
applied to anything I want...that is if I schlep into a
kiosk about 20 minutes away.

You mean it's only good in person? and not over the
phone or online?

Maybe they just want to get their hands on my phone
and remove the SPCS PRL,

So you're violating the terms of your contract? You're
stealing. A rightous, upstanding pillar of integrity like
yourself? What a shocker! And after all that above on
underhanded practices and PR...

Naw, the check must just be from the kindness in
their hearts:)

Probably a trick from the guys in the black helicopters.
Purveyors of truth and justice with all the facts and evidence
such as yourself are a threat to their very existence. Don't
go! they probably just want to make you disappear.
