Re: Accessing Internet via Blackberry 7250 and Verizon Data Plan

Just for clarification please...

Is that then, $45 for a PDA data plan (assuming PDA purchase and contract, I
know) PLUS $15 for tethering? For a total of $60?

I'm figuring this to all be in ADDITION to an existing voice plan.

Thanks,

-Frank

I've seen a few items about using one's blackberry as a modem to dial

attempts to access the internet using the phone's dataplan on the
Verizon network. I'm not an expert on the technologies involved, so
please bear with my ignorance . . .

I would like to know if there's a means by which I can use my
Blackberry 7250 either via the USB connector or Bluetooth to grant
internet access to my laptop. I have the unlimited data plan with
Verizon.

Yes you can. I do it all the time.

However, it costs a bit extra. You need a $15/month add-on called
"BroadbandAccess Connect." Call up Verizon's data tech support via 611,
and they'll set it up for you.

Once that's added, you download this software:

Install it, and hook up your phone via USB. Using it, you'll be able to
get on the internet.

Also, make sure your 7250 has the latest firmware. Many 7250's shipped
without EVDO enabled. The latest firmware enables EVDO and makes the
connection quite fast for wireless. I don't even bother with WiFi
anymore, unless I'm in an area covered only by 1X (and even then, the WiFi
better be free) ;)
