My wife bought me a carrying case and hands free gift. I returned it a
few days past fifteen days: It was never opened. Verizion refused to
give me my money back. Now I could understand if the product was
opened, but it was as if it had come off the rack. So, I canceled my
subscription and I spend about 250.00 per month. Am I mad no? I think
it is funny how a company will sacrafice 42.00 for 3,000.00 per year.
I would have asked for the store manager. No joy? Get his boss' name.

BTW If bought at Costco stuff can always be returned.

Wow. Sounds like the same store I'm dealing with. This isn't
Downingtown, PA you're talking about is it? I can't get the people at
that store to do anything except sell a phone.

I tried to have a replacement phone I bought 2nd hand flashed there.
It's activated and working but I not mobile web. I've had them flashed
before with no problems (after having to get the district supervisor
involved to force them to do it) but they're refusing again mainly
because I didn't buy the phone from them. Their refusal to simply flash
a phone is going to cost them $200/month in about 2 months when my
contract is up and I drop every service I have with them. Switching home
phone to VoIP and VZW to Nextel or Cingular. I'd drop FiOS too but I
need to run VoIP over something.

They seem to have the old mindset that they're the only game in town and
that they set the rules. They're not, and they don't.

Wow! Now we have two whiners that think that if Verizon doesn't bend over
backwards to please them. Poster number one even admits that the items
being returned were " a few days" after the 15 days. I'll bet if he got
pulled over for driving 75 in a 60 mph zone, he'd complain that he shouldn't
get a ticket because it was a few miles an hour over the speed limit. Read
this carefully. You had 15 days, you blew it.
Now we have another guy who gets upset because Verizon won't support a phone
of questionable history. I wonder if the first time it was flashed was
before it was reported stolen. And if it isn't hot, is it a phone that is
currently supported by Verizon? You do realize that Verizon is not
obligated to support every phone on the planet?
And before you start harping about customer service, what they are doing is
good customer service. Rather then spend time and effort on people that can
not abide by the rules, they expend their energy on good customers. No
business will remain profitable is it concentrates on pleasing every person
that thinks that the rules don't apply to them.
Finally as to the threat of canceling your service, both you yahoos won't
cause a blip on a blip on VZW's radar.
Am I being harsh? You bet. You both deserve it.
Bob

You are being harsh. What's worse you're being harsh without knowing
what you're talking about. The phone is currently supported and sold by
verizon and if you read my post through (which obviously you didn't)
before flying off the handle you would see that it is even activated on
their network. If it were hot as you also implied (again without any
knowledge) then CS would have picked that up when I gave them the ESN
and they wouldn't have activated it.

There is nothing wrong with this phone. It *is* a verizon phone but they
don't want to support it because I didn't buy it from them. I bought it
used from someone who upgraded. They want you to pay $5/month for
insurance and then another $50 deductible in case you lose a phone. Or
worse yet $200+ to buy a new phone without a contract. I can buy 2nd
hand phones for $30 from any number of legitimate sources including yard
sales, eBay and friends. Why would anyone in their right mind want to
fork over hundreds of $$ when $30 will do?

They're just pissed off that I didn't give that $30 (several times over
actually) to them and therefore are refusing to support a paying
customer to whom they are bound by contract.
