Re: Razr bluetooth question

Yes, I have used both. The drivers are for USB.
Bluetooth is another matter altogether.

Do some reading on:

Tons of info there.

There are links to drivers there...

Appreciate that...

Apparently, the drivers that he links to for USB make the phone show up as a Motorola modem and then you can use
bitpim or MPT. Is that your understanding? Do you use one of these programs with your V3c?

Maybe we're a little early in this process? Maybe, pretty soon, there will be a simple download (freeware, shareware,
proprietary, whatever) that you can install to access guts of this phone? It would be nice to be able to manage
contacts as well as move pictures, ringtones, etc. in and out of it. A little mystifying to me at this point and not
sure it is worth messing with, given that I have no burning need to do it in the first place.

Downloaded ringtone probably won't show up.
Copy protection I think may be the reason....??

Pictures you have taken should show.

An example - on mine, every thing I have loaded on there via
BitPim or MPT show - but none of the factory stuff.

I'll bet once you do put something on there, it will show.
Also, do you have a cable? Try that.

You mean a USB Cable with mini-plug on one end to fit the phone? Yes, I have one. Did plug it into the phone but
Win XP wants to install drivers for the phone hardware connection, which I do not have. Therefore, it does not show
anything at all for that connection. (But I could re-charge my phone that way, I think.)

I guess I will try it again with Bluetooth. (Need to reinstall that program, as I uninstalled it -- to get rid of
the irritating and undeleteable icons mostly -- when it seemed useless.) Unless you know of a driver for the phone
that would make the direct USB cable connection show something -- that would be better, but I don't know what that
might be.

If you are even seeing the folders - I think it's enabled.
Something else is wrong?
Or..... have you loaded anything onto the phone yourself?
If not, nothing will show. All of the factory tones and pics
do not show. You need Bitpim to modify these.

I had downloaded and paid for one ringtone, via Verizon, just to see if I could make that happen. Other than
that, everything in the phone was factory. Don't believe there were even any pictures I had taken with the
phone/camera in there when I tried it. I was expecting to see a list of the ringtones, pictures etc. that were in
there. But nothing at all in those folders.

Would that post-factory downloaded ringtone show up?

If I took a picture with the camera, would that show up?

If so, then I will try it again and report back.

VZW had Motorola turn OBEX off in the new .03 version of the software, which is what is now shipping with new
phones. More like outright remove the code; the usual hacks to re-enable it don't work. The v3c for other CDMA
providers, like Alltel, is fully functional with Bluetooth, and have the Motorola user interface.

Well, that's interesting. My phone shows S/W version as GATW_01.0F.02

But, as I have described here previously, when I tried to connect the phone with my desktop using the Bluetooth
connection, all I could get was folder icons labeled "ringtones" "pictures" etc. but when opened, they were all
empty. Could not make any useful connection showing any files.
