You have to wonder about Verizon. I was looking for a Treo 700. I told the sales person that I was interested in obtaining it. He looked up my account information and stated I was under the "new every 2" program and I would have to wait until May of this year as my 2 year contract comes to an end at that time. I asked him would I be able get it now, 3 months before that time. I was willing to sign a new 2 year contract right then and walk out with the Treo. Unfortunately he would not budge in that respect. You figure Verizon would be willing to bend a little since we are only talking 3 months and a 400 dollar sale. It makes absolutely no sense. But then I should realize Verizon is interested only in expanding their new customer base and offers no incentives for existing customers.

Interesting. Whenver I've been in a similar situation, Verizon has happily renewed my contract and been willing to sell me a new phone at the retail price.

$400 is the subsidy price (NE2). The retail is $499.99

At any rate the last time I renewed equipment it was a few weeks before the two years. I think they mentioned that you could get the NE2 up to 2 months early.
