The common practice at present seems to be that the store will swap the phone out for a refurbished unit. If they have a refurb on hand they'll do it on the spot; otherwise, they'll order one and have it fedexed.
Of course if the handset is out of warranty and you have insurance, then they're going to have you call Asurion (as they are the insurance provider for Verizon Wireless, instead of LockLine).
