I'm in the same boat. Verizon works everywhere I travel throughout the
northeast -- except my apartment.
Since I have high-speed internet anyway (cable), I ended up dropping my
landline (far too expensive) and added the low-end Vonage account for
$15 a month for 500 outgoing minutes, long-distance included. Works
like a champ.
No "in" calling for the other folks, unfortunately, but at least I have
usable service, and it's very inexpensive. If she has high-speed
internet, it might be something to consider since Verizon doesn't feel
like following through with her landline order.
