I don't see the logic in that -- Cingular is explicitly reserves the
right to drop anyone it wants without any effect on others. Read the
Terms language.

Also, Cingular does need to crispen their Internet Connection packages.
Their current rules don't make a lot of sense. You can surf the net all
day on the phone, but tethering to a PC is against the rules. That just
doesn't make any sense to me.

The sense is that Cingular expects you to pay more for tethered usage.

The TOS also states that MediaNet should be your access point/page to
the Internet via the phone. However, thousands of users utilize the
Opera browser, which is by far a better experience. Does Cingular drop
their Medianet plan? No.

It's running on the phone, so there's no issue.

I would think that it is only a matter of time before Cingular revamps
their Internet packages and rules, and hopefully lowers the cost on the
Unlimited "Data Connect".

I personally doubt it.

Right now, it's ridiculously priced at
$59.99.

That's a competitive price.

An absurd price for such a slow "EDGE" connection that waffles
back and forth on available bandwidth.

1. Then don't buy it. That's how the market works.

2. UMTS and HSDPA are also available in those coverage areas.

I've personally seen, by
tethering, anywhere from 20kbps up to a rare 180kbps.

I see 160+ Kbps most of the time.
