Yes, if you make one call a day, you're paying 99¢per day plus airtime,
hardly a good deal.

The best prepaid deal is on PagePlus. You can buy a Verizon prepaid
phone, but activate it on PagePlus. As low as 10¢ per minute, and a very
low minimum. Plus you get excellent coverage, better than on T-Mobile,
Cingular, or Virgin's prepaid.

Such a sweeping generalization isn't meaningful (even if true, which
it's not), and is thus a disservice. What matters to any given person
is coverage in areas that person cares about. Since different carriers
are better/worse in different areas, the proper advice is to check/test
the carriers in areas you care about _before_ settling on a service.
