If you bypass Paypal's protection guidelines and do a chargeback direct
through your credit card issurer, chances are you'll lose your Paypal
account and, in worst case, Paypal may withdraw money from your checking
account if it's on file. The chargeback would be 100% against Paypal and
have no affect on the seller. When Paypal first started up many people went
this route successfully and Paypal lost a fortune, so they cracked down. If
I had problems with a major Paypal purchase and Paypal didn't want to work
with me, I'd consider the ramifications... but for most purchases going this
route is crazy.
Best thing to always do is work through Paypal in disputes as best you can.
