That may be your opinion but apparently you are not aware of the California
Court decision that exonerated Ford, or the US Senate investigation the
determined the Pinto was no different than other small cars of the day and
actually BETTER than the small Jap cars in similar crashes. In any event
that is old news, Toyotas problems are with their CURRENT models.

The number was 180 that would have been avoidable. Hardly "several
hundred".
These issues were known by the car makers before the cars were sold.
Their accountants calculated that the loss of life, lawsuits etc would
cost less overall than the $15 to $17 a car it would have cost them to
make them safe.
No argument there.
