You already had a link handy. For some reason, you did not provide it.
Onward:
"For us, the modern state is the great power, the great seducer, the
great captor and destroyer of human life, the great master of humanity
and history in its totalitarian claims and designs."
That differs in huge ways from the quote you presented. I wonder why.
Which link did you get YOUR QUOTE from? I'm busy. I don't have time to
go hunting for the EXACT link you got YOUR QUOTE from.
You already have the link.
The problem is, you quote the message as, "for us", everybody else seems
to quote it as, "the US is."
Everybody copied everybody else. This is how bullshit is generated on the
internet. One idiot copying another. Conscience got HIS version from an
idiot who didn't bother to do its research. He is now proliferating the
bullshit by posting it here, and you are gobbling it up.
The correct version is here:
http://theologytoday.ptsem.edu/jul1977/v34-2-bookreview2.htm
This citation is a review, it has no direct quote from Rev. Jim Wallis.
The text is written by a guy named Paul Sherry.
So, we are back to my questioin, what makes your idiot the right idiot?
The only thing that makes my idiot the right idiot is that my idiot is
repeating the same quote that all of the other idiots, except yours, is
giving. I find it difficult to believe that 1 is right and all of the rest
are wrong. It is far more common that all of the rest are generally right,
and the one variance is wrong.
If you want to bother finding the actual passage and sharing it, have at
it.
Are you telling me that when you searched and found the text below, you
didn't think it included the quote from Wallis' book?
The state, according to Wallis, is perhaps the most dangerous of "the
powers" in today's world. In Wallis' descriptions of the state, the
theological notion of "the powers" often merges with his empirical
observations of the current status of the United States and other nations.
This point is best illustrated by the following quotations:
"America is a fallen nation. In fact, the fall is the principal political
and spiritual fact of America and other nation-states."
"Vietnam was the mirror that revealed to us the truth about our nation."
"For us, the modern state is the great power, the great seducer, the great
captor and destroyer of human life, the great master of humanity and history
in its totalitarian claims and designs."
