I use Google groups, because my ISP doesn't care alt groups anymore. I
use my ISP for other groups that they do carry. Unless I am out of the
area, where I use google groups for everything.

Motzarella, AIOE, Albasani, Mixmin, X-Privat are very good free
newsservers.



I use motzarella. The main thing I don't like is that it balks at the number of cross posts. I never cross post, but I do reply to cross posts, and Motzarella throws a hissy fit if there are more than 4 news group accounts listed.
