Re: {OT ? } A Sea of Unwanted Imports

Of course I do not believe that "all" buyers do that, but enough do to
affect the vehicle market.

I know you pay attention to what is going on in the world, so you must be
making this argument just to be a pain in the ass.

You think like that because you believe all buyers base their buying
decision on fuel economy. Do you really think a person that likes or
needs and can afford to buy and operate the bigger safer cars, trucks or
SUV cares about the price of fuel?

Nobody wants to pay more for fuel. Many like me simply buy what they
want or need, no matter the price. The folks that can only afforded to
buy small or midget cars are the ones most effected by the price of fuel
they need to operate their vehicles. Those than do not need or afford
the bigger safer vehicles are the ones buying the small and midget cars.

Your point of view is part of the problem. We get complacent when gas
prices are low. Do you think that the current prices are permanent? It
is not the time to start buying Hummers, Excursions, and Yukons again.

It's impossible to justify a Prius with gas at 2 bucks a gallon (not
that it was particularly easy at 4 bucks).

Beware, the economy, it's probably going to get worse before it gets
better.
NYT story, worth the reading,
""In the 150-acre terminal where Toyotas are unloaded, there is a sea
of
Corollas, Camrys and RAV4s.
"This is one way to look at the economy," Art Wong, a spokesman for
the
port, said of the cars. "And it scares you to death.""
