The explanation Mark provided is a common source of brake noise during the
first few applications after the car has been parked overnight. Depending
on your driving habits and driving conditions, it is also possible that your
brake pads are worn and you are hearing the brake wear indicators so I would
have the brake pad thickness measured. If the noise is coming from the
rear, there may be a buildup of brake dust in the drums.
