Hillary is not even my choice for prez, but it sure is fun to watch you
repugs in a tizzy. lol- Hide quoted text -

She's got a set of brass one's and her machine can counter the
republican's machine. She is really kryptonite to the neo-cons.
I think youare mistaken. First of all, her issue right now is not the Republican Machine, it is her ownself.
She is not kryptonite at all. If the Republicans lose the White House, it will be because they lost the White House, not because Hillary took it from them. There is still a long way to go, and the Dems are starting to show stress fractures. Obama has shot himself in the foot many times, and has dug himself a hole that will prove to be difficult to climb out of. Edwards sees two Americas, himself and everybody else. That is a difficult position to be in. Hillary wants to mail a New York driver's license to anybody that walks through the door, then two minutes later does not want to do that.
The Republican candidates have similar but different issues, and none of them are front runners for me.
I'd like to see a National Prtimary Day, where the entire country goes to the polls on the same day in February or March. The candidates get their message(s) out in these towne hall meetings, debates, and one-on-one on the various talk shows. I don't need to see any candidate lambast any other, I just want to see and hear how they would deal with any particular issue, as in, "well, Mrs. Clinton, some states are struggling with giving official identification cards to people that are in this country illegally. How do you feel about such plans?"
"Thanks for asking that Bill (or Sean, or Tim, or Wolf, or ...). I believe that the United States needs these immigrants to do many of the jobs that are out there but that Americans do not seem willing to take. We need a system where we can get these workers here to do these jobs -- after all, we do have an official unemployment rate of only 4.5%, and we have 12 million undocumented aliens filling lots of jobs and many more remain unfilled. But, changing the way we bring workers here and giving identification cards to people that have no documents is two different things. I would create a means to bring in guest workers, and give those people ID cards, but any person that is here without proper documentation should not get identification cards or driver licenses."
This is the kind of response that the voters want to hear. The direct answer is, no ID for illegal workers, but the indirect answer is, the system is broken and we need to fix it then give ID cards to those that comply with the rules once they are fixed. Maybe the actual answer most of us want to hear is different, but I'm trying to illustrate the notion that what we have is not working, and making it worse is probably the wrong track.
On a personal note,
I think that any illegal immigrant should come and go as he pleases, but if he screws up and comes to the attention of the police -- at any level of government, local police, county sheriff, state polilce, highway patrol -- then those agencies should automatically bind that person over to the border patrol for appropriate processing once whatever other justice is needed is meted out. I do not support the idea of going around and rounding up illegals -- mostly Mexicans in my area -- but when law enforcement stumbles upon them, they should be charged with illegal entry along with whatever other crime brought them to the attention of the cops.
Local authorities enforce lots of other federal crimes, why should they give immigration violations a bye?
