Sure. UUNET - Unuseable, Unweildy NET.

Al Gore was a politician. The best job a politician can do it to put
seed
or grant money where it will take root and grow for the nation. That's
what Gore did.

Far cry from 'creating the Internet'.

But not a far cry from "initiative in creating the Internet."

No other politician had the necessary
vision to look down the road and put up the small amount of money to
jump-start the Internet. That's leadership. Vint Cerf and Robert Kahn
agree.

Given that, what's YOUR problem with their endorsement?

Most normal people would say, "well, duh, Vint Cerf? Robert Kahn? They
think Al Gore deserves some respect on this? They're heavyweights! That's
good enough for me!"

But, no. You're determined that your original knee-jerk reaction to all
things progressive or liberal is RIGHT and CORRECT. This Liberal could not
possibly get any credit here. You're not having it. You're even telling
us, in a different sub-thread here, that their endorsement of Al's
contribution is a "political bone," even though you have NO evidence of that
whatever. You don't need any evidence, you're RIGHT and CORRECT. You don't
like the facts, so you DENY the facts or ARGUE the facts. SCREW the facts.
You KNOW it ALL.

Well, I know your type. We get guys like you here, sometimes; the Indians,
especially, tend this way. They're the know-it-all contractors.

The know-it-all contractors, the kind of guys who think they know more
about the Internet than a Vint Cerf or more about SQL than Celko or Date or
more about algorithms than Knuth or more about programming and design than
Dykstra or Yourdon (it's not just the ones that work for me, it's also the
other disciplines, too) well, we don't have time for much of that - or them.
They come in on a project, they do their bit, we work with them, find out
what a universal irritant they are, we tolerate them for a while and, when
what we initially hired them for is finished up or maybe even before, we
"regretfully" we let them go, in favor of bringing in other people who
exhibit a willingness to learn.

I'll bet you were just a joy to work with in IT. I'm not surprised you're
taking a little time off to deliver papers.
