The odds of getting killed or injured on a single trip are small.

The odds of getting killed on the road sometime during your life are
very close to 1 in 50. (1.8% of all Americans will die on the road.)

Personally I'd rather drive a pickup truck safely, without a seat belt,
than drive an SUV with a seatbelt and airbags the way most people drive.
