Before the Gulf War, Bush Sr. sent his Secretary of State to visit
almost every one of our allies and many Middle East nations, including
to Iraq to meet Saddam Hussein. That was one reason the Gulf War was
such a clear military victory and why it was so widely supported, even
in the Middle East.

It was a success because it had a very measurable outcome.

Iraq now was a success in the original military stage.

Winning the peace is hard and takes a long time.

We are still in Japan and Germany....after how many years?
