Took my '92 Corolla Wagon on a 'road' trip.
Traveled over 3000 miles on all types of highways.
Survived without...
ABS
DRL's
or Air Bags....
Imagine that.....

If they were readily available options but not standard equipment, I'd
Myextra for ABS and side airbags.
If you're thinking these things should be optional, well, I'd agree with
you. But I'd want them readily available because I see value in them.
experience trying to get side airbags on our '01 suggests that "readily
available" isn't the case for optional safety items.
Anyway, where'd you go? I enjoy long driving trips.
Started out in Florida...
Drove to my brother's house outside Charlotte NC.
Then took almost the full Blue Ridge Parkway north.
Onto Mass to take my wife away from her elder parents and a
short stay on the coast of Maine (near Perkins Cove along the
Marginal Way).
On the way back a stop in NJ to visit my Air Force son.
Broke in my new Canon EOS 5D digital SLR. What a JOY!

Sounds very pleasant. Esepcially the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's been a long
time since I went there. Over 35 years.
Little cold for the Coast of Maine, though.
