Hello,
Is it safe to use Bio-Diesel in a BMW 1-Series 120D ?
It is just that Bio Diesel is cheaper near me, selling for 80 per litre
Hi,
All 5 BMW diesels I have had from 2002 - 2009 (320d 2002; 320d 2005;
320d 2006; 330d 2006; and 335d 2009) have stated in the handbook NOT to
use Bio-Diesel.
Although I might believe things are different in the UK/EU, the US versions
of the 335d are allowed to use B5 - that is 5% bio-diesel. In fact, in many
states (including WA where I am), that is all that is available. BMW has
to meet US requirements, and the use of (limited amounts of) bio-diesel
and ethanol (in gasoline) is required by the US EPA and various states.
I would certainly believe that the piezo-electric injectors on my 335d
would be adversely affected by bio-diesel unless it was ultra-purified.
BTW, the 335d is a kick-ass car.
