It's located under the blower motor. Here's a picture from RealOEM
although it doesn't really show it very well.

i have a 91 525i heater blower motor only works on high speed. i have
replaced the motor because it was bad but still only high speed. have a
new resister to replace but do not know where it is located on the car.
