Re: Help needed, please, fusebox issue, ML320

Rob, maybe I'm misunderstanding you...I'm sorry...

This is what I see...

-remove screws all around and lift out the entire fusebox.
-fuses are all on top, alot of plug in-connectors on the bottom
-there is a 'seam' all around with plastic 'snaps' that suggest the box can
be split apart to get to the inside of it...

That is what I need to get to - and I am afraid if I unsnap all around, I'll
make things worse...

Can it be accomplished, unsnap top and bottom, to get to the inside and
remove a stray stand of wire without removing the fuses on top, the
connectors on the bottom, without the whole thing falling apart????????

Thanks Rob, but that's the problem.. I need to open that assembly..
there is a stray wire inside....!

is this possible???

The fuse box lifts up quite easily, in 2 sections. Make sure you
disconnect the battery before working in the fuse box area, which
will mean you will also need your radio code after you re-connect the
battery. Nothing will fall apart when you lift the fuse box assy. The
fuse box assy is one piece and is only replaceable as such.

RE: 98 ML320

I am fairly certain I have a fusebox issue.

Has anyone ever taken the fuse box apart? I ran a jumper once, did
a mod where the front
aux lights would go on with the rear fog... I finally had them
programmed at MB
and when I pulled the jumper, some of the strands remained in the
slot of one of the relays.
I pulled the box out only to see that it's actually 2 sections, top
and bottom..
has anyone ever split these??? I want to get to the inside or
bottom area of where the aux light relay is.

I really have to get in there.. there has to be a stray strand of
wire - it's causing havoc... help???

What I fear is that if I take the 2 sections apart, I don't know if
all of the wires and sockets will remain in place.. thank you...
