Are you sure you understand the gas regulation system of motors with catalytic converters? If the regulation system is not able to adjust correct exhaust gas values the control electronic stops the fuel pump. There is a complex vacuum regulation system for gas enrichment wich will certainly be disturbed by an open exhaust line.
