want any LEAs snooping... IYKWIMITYD
Question is, how should we go about it? I *could* install GPG and
provide you with a key to give you the info you need to reach me
beside posting it to a public forum in clear text.

How ya gonna know for certain?
and I would know.. kinda like a code word or phrase.. I hate even
thinking about going that route but for obvious reasons it might be
the best option available at the moment.
Tell me, are you a "Black Adder" fan? I have an idea of a phrase from
the TV series Black Adder Goes Fourth. It'll be multi-encrypted.
That's all I'll say at this point.. I won't say by what manner or in
what order but I'll keep it simple.

back in before you had a chance to turn around and see me. lol
So ... no one can spy on you while you're talking?A packet sniffer or Trojan would be the only way to do that. :)
But as far as security, no I don't use SSL because this version of my
IRCd doesn't support it. There are later versions that do, however
I've yet to find a working keygen.
SSL = Secure Socket Layer. For web sites by default, it uses port 443
(that you are connecting to). It secures transmission between you and,
say, a financial institution, such as a banking web site, to prevent
your login credentials from being sniffed. SSL uses a wide variety of
encryption algorithms.
For IRC however, SSL connections are made on port 7000 typically. It
too uses various forms of encryption to insure that no one is able to
sniff the data being transmitted between you and the IRC server you're
connected to.
Okay. Maybe I got that. [g] Sort-of.
I just learned (yesterday) how to make an x-face. I was so proud of myself. It took a *long* time to get the thing to work.
W00t!!!!! Congrats on the new discovery!! :)
I am going to work on the picture and when I get it to looking better, I'll show you. If your news reader sees those things.
