People still use Windows?
Weird.
Well, if you can't afford a X-Box, it's the next best thing for
some...;)
Been thinking about trying teh new Windoze....but yeah, can't seem to
bring myself to a self induced lobotomy ;)

I've actually tried Windows 7 RC and as hard as it is for me to say, I
honestly like the features it has.
I actually have two separate versions of Windows 7. The one I
downloaded through uTorrent only allows you to use it for 2 hours
before it shuts your system down. Just restart and use it for another
two hours..
The second copy I got was from my instructor. I think he said that
until sometime in 2010 you can use this version all day long and it
won't shut the system down. After a certain date next year though it
will. Every two hours.
Sycho, I don't think that is just an issues with the 7 betas. I figure when
the new version of MS Win 7 Server Retail comes out soon it is suppose to
crash and shutdown every two hours... How else is Bill form Redmond going to
get you to upgrade to Windows 8. ;)
Personally I'll just stick to Windows 98 SE, with the Revenge of Mozilla mod
(on my site) to play abandonware. And use Slackware or PC-BSD as a desktop,
CentOS (Redhat fork) as a server, and a Mac for everything else!
Windows 98? Does that even support NTFS? Not to mention its other
limitations...although they may or may not be a bother depending on
what you do with your system. I really didn't have much choice but to
upgrade to XP, there was too much that it offered that I needed that
the prior OS couldn't do. So far though I've seen no real reason or
need to upgrade to 7.
It's largely all just eye candy and interface changes, which can be
done just as easily on XP if you're savvy enough. One of the best
features of Windows XP is that the entire OS itself is basically a web
browser, which makes it very easy to customize, alter and change just
about anything.
I always found those lawsuits against Microsoft to be so amusing,
because their browser is so directly integrated into the OS itself
that it really is effectively impossible to separate the two apart.
Effectively the whole court case was completely absurd. They only
lost because the judge really hadn't any clue at all as to what the
case was even about.
Microsoft lost I think largely because they didn't really take it
seriously, because the whole thing was so completely absurd, but when
you're dealing with idiots, well, idiots can easily take any number of
inane things seriously...often to the point of inflicting damage onto
others out of their stupidity. That and of course the underlying
human *NEED* to vilify and to try and attack those that hold the most
cards so to speak. People often have an innate perception to link
success with wrong doing, often because they feel victimized for not
being successful themselves, despite their ASSumed sense of
righteousness. Such pure selfishness really is at the very core of
nearly every human being on the planet.
