Yes, the cruising part through Europe, my second sabbatical in just a few
years time, visiting lots of places, meeting many people (most of them RR
or Bentley owners) is an experience I can recommend to everybody !
I was - sort of - lucky when the exhaust system blew out.
After only 42 years it decided to break in two, just forward of one of the
funky cone shaped resonators.
I had to drive no more then a mere 80 miles or so to reach the restorer's
While waiting for a traffic light people started to frown and turn their
heads due to the noise.
A Rolls that can be heard while idle ?
Unheard off !
The car sounded like a big block American Muscle Car !
A Rolls is supposed to be whisper quiet and it is again !
The stereo is a different story though....
While not being obnoxiously loud it does produce enough decibels for people
to turn their heads and start dancing in the street when they hear the
Smiths do Bigmouth Strikes Again !
I wonder what it would be like to drop one of those big
Rolls engines into a drag racer. I'm sure the engine was
designed for tons of torque and pull like a tractor but
as I understand it, whenever Rolls engineers are asked
what the horse power is, they answer "adequate".
Hans, what you should do is dress up like da Ali G and
drive around with the windows open, stereo blasting and
of course, bouncing around behind the wheel whilst making
