I told you about some of the stuff me and Brother Monster

video equipment into one little office? FLNF

Very clean cable management....nice to see that for a change....too
many places have spaghetti all over the place.
For having to "cram" you guys seemed to pull it off fairly well.

After many years of doing this kind of work,
we have developed methods that make our stuff
easy to service because we don't just install.
We put all the manuals and documentation in a
holder right there on the backboard so anybody
can come in and figure out what is what. We use
the 2" D rings because it makes it very easy to
make changes and add other gear. If my buddy at
the alarm company comes in, it will be easy to
install a panel on the backboard. There is already
a space for a small DSC alarm panel on the board
above the DSL modem and if more room is needed,
it is no problem to move things around. Most
folks don't consider expansion when installing
telecom and network systems. We have other sites
where we have been able to put up a full 4 X 8
*** of 3/4 plywood for a backboard. I like
those sites because it's very easy to work on
those systems. These days, telephone and data
systems have become so integrated that it makes
little sense to keep the equipment apart. Back
in the early days there would be a phone room and
a separate computer network room, often on opposite
sides of the darn building. Of course, everything
has shrunk in size including my.......never mind.

ROFL....don't forget plenum....gotta be safe an all....PBX systems are
fun....though punchdown blocks CAN be a pain sometimes...I've seen on
more than one occasion where the slot above or below was the intended
circuit....ugh....

The Domino's corporate specs for the installation called
for plenum rated cable for the original installation but
for the move, no way, not with what that stuff costs now.
Besides the code doesn't call for plenum rated unless it's
installed in a ceiling that's used as an air return for the
HVAC system. The cable systems we install use D rings and
bridal rings all over the place. In fact, we put in poly
pull strings first and when AT&T showed up, we were able
to pull in the new phone line with the pull string from
the back of the building some 140 feet away. Of course we
always pull in another string with the wire which makes
additions a lot easier and faster. If the owner gets an
alarm system later, wiring will be a lot faster and less
disruptive.
