Pro's and cons of using the stand-by modus on a laptop.
So far my laptops have been "on" 24/7.

Since a few days I've activated the stand-by modus.

No problem and saves your time from heavyduty bootup process. I seldom
shutdown my computer only when i don't have any choice ; installation
of some new software that requires me to boot again.
But i prefer 'hibernate' mode as compare to stand-by ;-) i have
problem with laptop battery and sure i do save some energy !GREEN! I
've found hibernate mode more efficient than stand-by mode.

Yep if you've got no probs in letting your laptop running for ages, try hibernate mode, just a bit slower to turn it up after (it has to re-write from disk to RAM).
