They weren't too specific about how they chose these towns,
none of the qualities they listed are particularly
desirable or relevant to me, but I guess they are important
to some.
Yankees come down here for a visit, we can't get the SOB's
to leave. Before they came and actually saw the area, they
thought there would be a Negro hanging from every tree and
pickup trucks full of Klan members firing shotguns into the
air while yelling "HEE HAW!!". Perhaps if we saw
them coming and put on a scary show with
what they expect to see, it would frighten
them away.
what they base their comparisons on. None of them involved no
negros hanging from trees, but for some reason they count
"diversity" as a plus. Irvine is NOT diverse, it's %51 Asian,
%48 white and %1 "other". Conversely, they also seem to have
some sort of a fuzzy "sense of community" index which is
diametrically opposed to the idea of "high diversity".
ours is 55%.
Not you personally, but it's one of the factors that make a place a
"good place to live."
I guess, if you want to move there, otherwise it's just a big pain in
the ass.
The reason we moved here is
because we already had a job. I would rather live in a place
with poor job growth because it's cheaper :-)
I'm with ya there! Almost all of California sucks on the
"affordability" scale.
Yeah, that's for sure.
Maybe ou did or
didn't read my post about probably (in the near future) moving
to Gainesville FL.
Nope, I saw it....remember you showed me the pics of possible
houses in Florida? That cool one built around the big pool stuck in
my memory :)
Doh! Of course. I've been busy lately, went on vacation etc. It must
have just faded from my mind.
Irvine has a median income of $108K with
that $108K actually being able to buy $63K worth of stuff.
Gainesville on the other hand has a median income of $55K which
can buy you $61K worth of stuff. I am salivating at the
possibility of making more than living in Irvine, but living in
a place where you can buy twice as much stuff with it :-)
Oh, hell yes!
On CNN's list, did you check out that city in CT (forgot the name
off hand) that has the highest salaries....and yet things cost so
much there, they can't buy ***. Figuratively speaking, of course.
:)
I can't imagine what it would be like to make enough to afford a million
dollar house and not be able to afford to live in it :-(
The average house is well over a million, etc. I never thought any
place was worse than Santa Fe for affordbility/cost of living...but
I guess I was wrong.
San Francisco is pretty bad. My wife was also considering that as a
place to work, there's a company there that really wants her to come
work for them, but I don't think they are willing to pay her the
$350K/year that we would require to move there and buy a house. I won't
move anywhere we can't afford a house on the salary they would pay.
Hell move to Wally World, you can buy a nice house on Wal*Mart
wages...for the time being anyway. All the rich dumb*** Californians
and Seattlites that keep moving here are fucking everything up,
because they come here, used to paying a half MILLION for a fuckin
dump and so people are starting to over inflate their houses value,
selling 100k homes for 300k...and those dumbfucks keep buying them,
which is skewing the whole market. I blame the whole "wine industry"
the most, I mean did we *REALLY* need to become the next Napa Valley?
I swear to yer God if I see another wine tasting joint open up
downtown I'm gonna go and hold a protest...with FIRE...and PITCHFORKS!
