Global Warming!
Sorry about the greenhouse gasses.

My wife made some really good chili this week.

You got nothing when compared to termites. Those
teeny weeny little farts add up quickly.

I have a cat that can make your eyes water when he lets one
go.

I'll trade you. Mine sends people gagging from that section of
the
house.
Are you sure it's the cat? I've had a number of cats
throughout
my
life and not one of them ever farted that I ever smelled.

Maybe it's cause you feed them people food instead of cat
food.
*shrugs*

<SNIPPED THE SIG>
The cat eats anything that he can catch and it a friend who is a
coroner
who
got gagged out of the room. ;p
Please notice the above... (Snipped sig)

Not everyone wants to read his sig twice (and also have to try to
figure out where the new text is located)
Suppress quoted text then. ;p
I don't think you can do that with my newsreader. I know on the
otherhand you can do it with google groups... which I don't use.
Try a different newsreader. ;p
Give him a break, OE came with the computer, M$ recommends it,
therefore....
Ok, I can't continue that with a straight face.
;-)
Well the main reason that I use OE, is twofold. 1: I've used it a while
and I am used to it's workings (e.g. where a certain menu item is, etc)
and 2: You can delete a message (locally) or a thread that you don't
want
to see/hear (like that MI5 shithead) but in one of the better
alternatives
IMO
(Thunderbird) you can't. It says you don't have permission to delete
other people's posts or some other ***.
That would be because that is a global delete function and not a local
one. ;p
Well why then, doesn't it say something like, 'Warning: Cannot delete post
from newsgroup. Would you like to remove it from your local cache and not
have to download it again?' How hard would that be, or have I just not
found that feature yet?

You could probably hack it to say that :-) All facetiousness aside, you can go about that in a roundabout way by using the filters and setting it to not show read messages the next time you refresh the group.

Or just use Agent, since it treats messages like files, allows you to
delete them, move them around, etc, etc.

Yeah, Agent is an excellent newsreader. It also runs well off a USB stick. It has decent killfilters. I am still waiting for something with the filtering capabilities of slrn but the look of thunderbird. One of the other groups I read is infested with some sort of hipcrime bot. It randomly crossposts to various groups and impersonates the regular posters of the group I read. The only way to filter it is by NNTP posting host and the X-Complaints-To header. I tried a hack in thunderbird but it didn't work.
