I never saw any angels, though. I wonder ifthat means.. ah me.. I'll have lots of friends in Hell. ;)Yikes, that's both tragic and amazing. Doctor's are such assholes. They pretend to be gods, but as soon as things aren't going well, they give up on you. Then they tell your family you're going to die and send you home for them to deal with you because they can't be bothered and can't accept failure. On the amazing side, you must be pretty proud of yourself cheating death and all :-)
Oh, I am.. very, and my family still can't believe it. I catch them
watching me out of the corner of their eyes when they think I don't
notice. What bothered me more than anything was the fact that the doctors
(two of them) didn't express any doubt whatsoever when they told my family
I was terminal. Don't they realize how crushing that is to one's
family? I guess the docs get jaded after awhile and don't stop to think
how hurtful what they say can be.
That's my point. I don't want them (doctors) to gloss over the truth or anything, but when they tell your family you are *going* to die it's the equivalent of giving up on you, and because you are taught to trust doctors, it is very devastating.
I had a routine blood test 2 years ago, within about 3 weeks after my dad died of leukemia, and it had a high white count. It was high enough that I was sent to a cancer doctor who told me that I probably also had leukemia after a more comprehensive test and was sent for a bone marrow biopsy which, fortunately came up normal. I had two fucking months to wait for the definitive diagnosis. It was probably the worst 2 months of my life.
Nasty.
But you never told me who the father was???
Oh, all right.. It was Santa Claus. Shhh.. I promised not to tell. His
rep and all, yanno. ;)
