OK..
So I gots me VMware Workstation 6.0.0.
And that has a giant choice of Linux distro's like Red Hat, Mandrake,
Suse,TurboLinux, Ubuntu, the works !

Please advise on what to choose.
I knows zilch...well...almost zilch about them Linux distro's so assume
I'm a Linux virgin.

I need something like Word, Excel, Mozilla, Adobe, some DVD/CD creator
proggie, iTunes, my beloved 40Tude Dialog and something to store all my
pics.

Tell me in layman's terms please...
/me closes VMware...needs another bourbon...

A month or two ago I would have said Ubuntu, but I tried Kai's advice, now I
will recommend Suse, Openoffice will substitute for most of your Word,
Excel needs, If by Adobe you mean Photoshop then the Gimp will work, there
is not many replacements for iTunes (that I am aware off, as I don't have a
iPod it isn't an issue), as for 40Tude, the is KNode, Pan and many other
newsreaders.

iTunes being the least important and 40Tude the most (I love that
newsreader), I don't really care about the rest.
That's just a matter of experimenting !

Your newsreader ?

Suse it is.

"Forty-two!"
"Is that all you've got to show for seven and a half million years of
work?"
"I checked it very thoroughly", said the computer...
