Now you have 4 different answers. Aren't you glad you asked?
Forget Linux, go FreeBSD.
OpenBSD *snicker*
Hell, if you're gonna go that crazy, may as well get a Macintosh.

Sheesh!

And what's wrong with a Macintosh? <taps foot>

I've been using mine for a year now and I really like it.

Um, nothing's "wrong" with a Macintosh. The UI sucks, IMO, but that's just
a matter of opinion. Of course, I am not the only one who thinks so. My
son is always using a Mac iBook (Powerbook?) in his kindergarten class and
remarks when he's on my laptop (KDE) how much easier it is.

The UI does take some getting used to, the "finder" is quite annoying,
why they don't give you a "tree view" option I don't know. Other than
that, I've had a pretty good experience with my mac mini. Granted I
don't use it for much other than surfing the web and watching TV and
videos. The OS is really stable and everything just works so I don't
have to spend hours looking for drivers and getting them to work like I
did with linux.

Hmmm...never had that issue. :)

Okay, well, not since I loaded SuSE anyway. Back in the RedHat 4.2 and
Mandrake 6.0 days, life was hell just finding a 3Com driver.

We'll see what happens when I load Vista this weekend. I want to see how
"easy" it is to load Windows compared to Linux.

The reason for the comment was the mention of BSD. IIRC, OSX+ is based
on some BSD derivitive, right?

I think so, I don't much care though, I'm just happy to have something
that works :-)

Hear hear!!
